Managing the right to portability

The right to data portability is a right provided for by the GDPR that allows any individual to retrieve their personal data in a structured and reusable format.

What this means for you #

Within the framework of Sportpxl, the right to portability can take the form of two types of requests from a participant:

  • Retrieve photos — the participant wishes to obtain their photo files in high resolution.
  • Retrieve personal data — the participant wishes to obtain the data you hold about them (name, email address, race number, etc.).

How to respond to a portability request #

For the photographs:

  1. From "My photos", search for the participant's race number.
  2. Filter photos by race number to isolate your selection.
  3. Download your photos — for large volumes, use the Tampermonkey script provided by Sportpxl to automate batch downloads from Mozilla Firefox. See the article "Downloading a batch of photos according to different criteria".
  4. Send the files to the participant by email or via a file transfer service (WeTransfer, Google Drive, etc.).

For personal data:

  1. From "My athletes" → "By list", locate the athlete.
  2. Note down the information recorded (race number, surname, first name, email address, telephone number).
  3. Send this information to the participant in a readable format (email, CSV file, etc.).

Processing time #

The GDPR requires that requests for portability be responded to within one month of receipt. In the case of complex requests, this period may be extended by two additional months, provided that the applicant is informed within the first month.

💡 The right to portability only applies to data provided directly by the individual (contact details, account data, etc.) and data resulting from their activity (e.g. photos purchased). It does not necessarily cover all internal processing data.

💡 If you have any doubts about the scope of a request, please do not hesitate to contact contact@sportpxl.com for assistance in responding.
