Best practices for uploading photos

Uploading your photos is a critical step — anticipating connection conditions before the event is essential to ensure quick publication and avoid unpleasant surprises in the field.

Choosing a good connection #

The upload speed depends directly on your network connection. There are three possible situations:

  • Fibre optic (recommended) — ask the organiser for access to the event's fibre WiFi. This is the fastest and most reliable solution.
  • 4G — use the "Personal Hotspot" option on your phone. Be sure to check that the phone network is 4G at the event location before relying on it.
  • ADSL — to be avoided as much as possible for large volumes, as upload times can become very long

Estimate upload time #

The time required depends on the number of photos and their average size. Here are some guidelines:

If you only sell your photos online #

Take the time to ensure you have the right conditions before starting the import. Of course, the sooner your photos are online, the more likely you are to sell — but this goal should not cause you to compromise on connection quality. An unstable upload can cause errors and significantly slow down processing.

⚠️ Always test your connection at the event location before committing to a publication deadline — 4G coverage can vary greatly depending on location, especially in mountainous or rural areas.

💡 For large volumes (1,000 photos or more), plan to import your photos in successive batches rather than all at once, in order to limit the risks in the event of a network outage.
